LARP — Biometric Information Consent & Release
Last updated: August 18, 2026 · Effective date: August 18, 2026
Biometric Information Consent & Release
Who is collecting. Larp Marketplace LLC ("LARP") uses a third-party identity-verification provider, Stripe, through its Stripe Identity service (the "Verification Provider"), to verify your identity.
What is collected. To verify your identity, the Verification Provider will capture:
- an image of your government-issued photo ID; and
- a live photo ("selfie") of you, including a liveness check; and
- will generate and compare biometric information — specifically, a scan of your facial geometry / a facial template — to confirm the selfie is a live person and matches the photo on your ID.
Under Illinois law, items above include a "biometric identifier" and "biometric information."
Why it is collected (specific purpose). Solely to:
- confirm that you are who you say you are before you transact on LARP — an Owner must be verified before publishing a Listing, and a Creator must be verified before booking a Session (because, on LARP, Owners meet Creators in person at every Session, and both sides of that meeting need to be a known, identifiable person);
- help prevent fraud, impersonation, and duplicate or fake accounts; and
- support the trust and safety of the LARP community.
It is not used for any other purpose, not used to track you, and not used to infer any characteristic about you.
How long it is kept, and when it is destroyed (retention & destruction schedule). Our retention limit is this: your biometric identifiers and biometric information are retained only as long as needed to complete the verification purpose above, and in no event longer than three (3) years after your last interaction with LARP.
How that destruction actually happens. LARP does not hold your biometric data — the Verification Provider does — so destruction takes effect when we instruct the Verification Provider to redact your verification session. Today we issue that instruction when you delete your account in the app, or when you email us to ask, and we relay it to Stripe, which then redacts the session; Stripe also applies its own retention schedule to the data it holds. Since 26 August 2026 that instruction is carried out by an automated process that keeps retrying until Stripe confirms the session has been redacted, and records that confirmation — it is no longer a single best-effort attempt that could fail silently. We do not yet run a job that issues the instruction automatically at the end of the retention period described above, so if you want your biometric data destroyed before then, delete your account or ask us — either one, and we will action it.
Where it is stored (data minimization). The Verification Provider stores and processes the biometric data as our service provider — the biometric processing (the selfie match) is performed by Stripe, not by LARP; LARP itself minimizes or avoids storing your raw biometric identifiers, keeping instead a verification result/status and a reference.
No sale. LARP and the Verification Provider will not sell, lease, trade, or otherwise profit from your biometric identifiers or biometric information, and will not disclose them except (a) to the Verification Provider to perform the verification, (b) with your consent, or (c) as required by law or valid legal process.
Your choices. Providing this consent is required to complete identity verification, and identity verification is required before you can publish a Listing (as an Owner) or book a Session (as a Creator). It is not required to create an account or to browse LARP. If you do not consent, you can still use LARP, but you will not be able to publish a Listing or book a Session until you verify. You may withdraw consent or request deletion at any time by emailing admin@larp.global (deleting your account in the app's Settings also ends further processing); we will relay deletion requests to Stripe, which holds the data, subject to legal-retention exceptions. (Withdrawing consent will prevent you from publishing Listings and from booking Sessions until you re-verify.)

The release you are agreeing to
By checking the box and tapping "I Consent & Continue," you state that you have read and understood this Biometric Information Consent & Release, and you voluntarily provide your written consent and release authorizing Larp Marketplace LLC and its Verification Provider, Stripe (Stripe Identity), to collect, store, use, and (per the schedule above) destroy your government ID image, selfie, and biometric information (facial geometry/template) for the limited identity-verification purpose described above.
Acceptance log (system records): when you accept, our systems automatically record the consent text version, the timestamp, and your user ID. (Recorded automatically; not user-entered.)
